Hi + Hello

Happy Week 23! Shout out to NYC for embracing the Knicks the way we are! The city is buzzing and the coming together for a common desire is endearing. I almost don’t want it to end, but also my nerves can’t take it, so Knicks in 4!

🔧 Tips, Tricks, and Tidbits

Don't minimize your participation in the good things that happen to you. Give yourself credit for the effort, decisions, risks, and consistency that helped create the opportunities and wins you enjoy today. While luck and timing and network can play a role, many of the positive outcomes in our lives are connected to the choices we've made, the work we've done, and the ways we've shown up. It's possible to be grateful for support, circumstance, and opportunity while also recognizing your own role in making things happen and rising to the occasions presented to you. This week, notice how often you explain away your successes or give all the credit to external forces. Instead, try naming one thing you did that contributed to the outcome and allow yourself to take ownership of it. And if you’re feeling frisky, do it with pride =)

😏 Unrelated Musings

Update: I successfully stayed off the formerly named blogs but instead I 100% binged Love After Lockup which is, technically (and morally), no better. Because I haven’t watched the show in a couple seasons - I’m almost a changed woman when it comes to what I watch on tv - I had a lot of catching up to do, and did! The show did what I think a lot of reality tv does: gives us insight into how other people live, and a peak into the trials, tribulations, and triumphs they experience along the way, in this very particular season of their life. The show also did what it often does for me: reminds me of all the things I don’t have to experience, either by circumstance or choice, and reminds me to be grateful for my trials, tribulations, and triumphs, because it could always be worse. It’s an escape and a vice. I care much less these days about whether that outlook is good or bad - we all have our things we use to cope with life, and some vices leave us in a better place while others leave us worse off. In this instance, I’m better off. I feel grateful where I’m at in life, the good, the less-good, and beautiful, and the future I can shape out of where I’ve come and who I am. Perspective is always a good thing, and as far as I’m concerned, watching this show, in particular, I get a lot of it, as well as a few simple reminders such as:

My favorite possible self writes another blog post in approximately one week! My mantra says I follow through, so I must! See you there!
