Hi + Hello

Happy Week 44! Fortunately for you, this is not a podcast because if it were, you would hear me in my all hoarse voice glory! I was just a-screaming yesterday, cheering on all the marathon runners and wearing myself out. The excitement was palpable, the runners’ dedication and hard work was inspiring, and it almost makes me want to give it try. Almost. Anyway, I used my voice to uplift as many runners as I could and today, you can tell. I loveeee having a strained voice - or better yet, no voice at all (temporarily of course) - so it was no price to pay! I’m already ready to get loud next year, hopefully cheering on even more brave familiar faces! And later on, laugh myself to sleep as I scroll all the fun signs. And they are fun!

🔧 Tips, Tricks, and Tidbits

In light of the NYC marathon that just passed, it’s worth noting the power of people showing up to encourage other people. Being cheered on reminds us that we're seen, supported, and not necessarily navigating our challenges alone. Encouragement can strengthen our confidence, motivation, and willingness to persevere, especially when we're running low on those things ourselves. And, there's something to be gained from being on the other side of that exchange, too. Cheering others on gives us an opportunity to experience joy in someone else's success, contribute to their experience, and feel connected to something beyond ourselves. Participating in supportive communities reinforces our sense of belonging and reminds us that we all have something valuable to offer, whether we're running the race or standing along the route.

Unrelated Musings

Ok so this was a really great weekend. Before I didn’t actually lose my voice on Sunday cheering on the marathon runners, I saw Wanted on Broadway on Saturday. It’s a tale of twin sisters, set in the 1890s when things were - if I’m honest - not different enough, serving up lots of sociological and anthropological layers that make you think about identity and perception and (made up) power and survival and bloodline and so much more. And if that’s not enough, you’re doing all that while these sangers were sangin! I am still in awe of the talent on the stage, from inception to presentation. The story, the set, the original music, the voices (again, omg!), the choreo, all of it. I mean, well done! No tricks, all treat!

My favorite possible self writes another blog post in approximately one week! My mantra says I follow through, so I must! See you there!
