Hi + Hello

Happy Week 43! I GOT TO SEE EPISODE 1 OF THE FINAL SEASON OF P VALLEY.  I had the pleasure of seeing Miss Mississippi and Lil… errr Big Murda in person, and hear them share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences about the show and their characters, and it was well worth it. Shout out to Katori Hall, Nicco Annan, and Gail Bean, who were also in attendance dropping gems. I really enjoy seeing people in their element being celebrated for their craft. It does something good for my soul. Season premieres Dec 4.

🔧 Tips, Tricks, and Tidbits

Best-case scenario journaling, aka positive future visualization or best possible self journaling (who knew?!), is a reflective exercise that asks us to imagine and write about a future where things 100% work out in our favor. Instead of focusing on what could go wrong, we intentionally explore what “right” looks like, what success feels like, in all their various presentations. This practice can help counter our tendency toward worst-case thinking or “looking for the problem“ and increase optimism, help clarify our goals, and strengthen our motivation to take action. We can acknowledge that obstacles exist and assume that we will defeat them. We can explore all the ways it can turn out better than we initially conceive of. We can give positive possibilities and outcomes the the time and attention they deserve: more!

Unrelated Musings

As I so subtly mentioned at the top of this, I got to see the beginning of the end of P Valley. My Oura ring said I was stressed out the whole time. I’ll blame it on the very loud surround sound and being the presence of the unbelievably beautiful Miss Mississippi aka Shannon Thornton. There were a few takeaways from watching the show and hearing the cast answer some really poignant questions, but one thing that really stood out - again, besides Shannon’s beauty… can you tell I’m obsessed and fangirling? - is when she said that the universe is inside of us. She shared an anecdote of hearing this from her acting coach, and shared it to mean that whatever we think we’re missing, whatever we think we don’t have, whatever we feel like we’re lacking to get the job or get the job done, is somewhere inside of us. Now I’m adding on: maybe we gotta dig to find it, or remove some rubbish to rescue it from our depths, but we are equipped with all we need to show up how we want, to present and to perform how we want, and to be who we want. It might take time, practice, coaching, encouragement, and faith, but we don’t need anything outside of what we already possess. It can be hard to imagine the people we’ve deemed as successful to have had struggled - Murda was a subway performer back in the day - but the fact is we have no idea what they went through to get where they are, and truly, we have no idea where they are in real time. So hearing her share the sentiment through tears reminds me that even people with great talent and great achievements and great beauty don’t always feel like that. It’s normal to have that experience and at the same time, you can ensure that it’s not the end of your story, but just a part or the start of it.
