Hi + Hello
Happy Week 34! I’m tired. Summer is nearing its official unofficial end and fall and “school” are nearly back. It feels like a mad rush to soak up the last bit of the ‘summer leisure’ we will certainly miss after LDW, and as such, I need a siesta. Ya girl was outside this weekend. Not-so-hot-take: There should be a week at the end of summer where everyone - mostly everyone - is on break, all at the same time. No official work, no major events, I almost want to say no travel, but that seems extreme… But a week of just… relaxing, where we’re just supposed to lessen our sleep debt, mill about, and focus on self-maintenance and mentally and emotionally gearing up for fall and winter. It’s not well fleshed out yet but I swear I’m onto something!

✍🏾 #RandomSessionNotes
1. Think yourself into the good stuff.
2. There's what you do and there's how you do it.
3. Ask yourself, "How do you want to feel at the end of today." When you have your answer, make decisions that support that feeling.

🔧 Tips, Tricks, and Tidbits
There’s what we say and how we say it. Similarly, there’s what we do and how we do it. We can think of these as practice and posture: the practice is the action itself, while our posture is the attitude, intention, and energy we bring to it. Both matter. We can do the “right” thing with resentment, defensiveness, or reluctance and unintentionally undermine some of the good we’re trying to accomplish. An apology delivered with an attitude isn’t the same as an apology offered with sincerity. Helping someone while making them feel like a burden doesn’t feel quite as helpful. Even doing something for ourselves - working out, setting a boundary, tackling a responsibility - can feel different when approached as an investment rather than a punishment. Doing the thing matters. How we show up while doing it matters, too.
Additionally, posture can influence practice over time. When we repeatedly approach something as a burden, punishment, or imposition, we reinforce that relationship with it. Approaching the same behavior with purpose, willingness, curiosity, or even neutrality can make it easier to sustain. So the “positive attitude” doesn’t have to mean forced positivity. It can simply mean choosing a posture that supports what we’re trying to accomplish.

😏 Unrelated Musings
Oh the joys of singing and dancing like no one is watching you even when people absolutely are! I’m so glad I said yes to myself and saw Durand Bernarr over the weekend. While I’m not locked into his career by any stretch of the imagination, I jumped on the opportunity to see him live. I thought he was going to be singing - I loveee a vocalist - but I was pleasantly surprised it was a DJ set. I knew less than 50% of the songs he played but I moved, grooved, and ate up his energy. What I enjoyed so much was that HE was enjoying himself so much. He is me in the confines of my home. The confidence, the comfort, the playfulness, the silliness, the being all of who you want to be! The being who you feel led to be in any given moment, and it might be several ‘who’s’ throughout the course of the day! It is so refreshing to see that - to see him - thrive in the contained, ‘aesthetic’ world we’ve become. And though he didn’t sing as much as I would have hoped - I just wanted him to do a little muffin man for me… maybe next time - but when he did, my ears and my soul thanked him very much.
My favorite possible self writes another blog post in approximately one week! My mantra says I follow through, so I must! See you there!
