"I make the big moves, do the big things."

Hi + Hello
Happy Week 16! Shout out to traveling! At the time of this writing, I’m in Athens, Greece! Depending on when this is read, I could be somewhere else! It’s my first time here and I’m spending the week galavanting between here, Olympia, and Crete. With each excursion, I’m reminded that there was life and love and luxury long before I existed, and it will remain long after I’m gone. Seeing history up-close is a blessing; it’s hard to conceptualize life 100 years ago, let alone eons past. It’s not like anything I’ve seen before. The people living here have visible evidence of life before them in a way I don’t and yet, I feel some connection to the people here, if only because I know what it’s like to have tourists descend into your neighborhood and block the sidewalk (sorry!). We’re all just trying to make our own history, and hopefully having lots of fun along the way. And like the Greek say (allegedly), “Gia parti mou!” which means to me, “treat yo self… yolo!”

✍🏾 #RandomSessionNotes
1. "Prepare yourself for what you want."
2. Ask yourself: What parts of myself do I want to amplify?
3. "Relationships are about showing up for people."
✦✦✦
So one of the random session notes I recently took said to ask yourself ‘What parts of myself do I want to amplify?” It’s an important question because, a lot of times, self-development involves finding what’s wrong with you and developing the self to fix you. I want to highlight that another path to self-development could be developing the strengths you know you have… doubling down on what lifts you up instead of trying to drag yourself along in the name of development. Perhaps we don’t need to learn something new all the time, but instead, do more of what makes builds us up to feel positively about ourselves.

😏 Unrelated Musings
There is no substitute for wisdom by way of experience and the best way for some of that to rub off on you is to spend time with ‘the elders.’ The age of elders is completely subjective. I’ve been reminded of the preciousness of shared experiences with people who are new and different and older than you. There’s always nuggets to glean - the time, experience, and perspective mean something. It’s also important to keep in mind that, in some cases, we, too, are the elders. And if/when that’s the case, our time, experience, and perspective mean something too.
My favorite possible self writes another blog post in approximately one week! My mantra says I follow through, so I must! See you there!
